Clean Technology Innovation (CTI) Grant – Up to $5 Million for NSW Clean Technology Commercialisation

The Clean Technology Innovation (CTI) Grant provides between $500,000 and $5 million to help NSW businesses and organisations pilot, demonstrate and commercialise lab-proven clean technologies. As part of the NSW Government’s Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative, the program supports innovative projects that have the potential to significantly reduce emissions while accelerating commercial readiness and industry adoption.

Grant amount: $500,000 to $5,000,000
Funding contribution: Minimum 1:1 cash co-contribution required
Applications close: 8 September 2026 (12:00pm)
Project duration: Up to 3 years

Who is this for?

State: New South Wales (NSW)

Industry Sector: Clean Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Climate Technology, Research & Commercialisation

The grant is designed for organisations looking to commercialise innovative low-emissions technologies that have already been proven in laboratory environments and are ready for pilot or demonstration activities.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

Hold a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
Are an eligible Australian incorporated business, research organisation, government entity or commercialisation body
Own, or have the rights to use, the intellectual property required for the project
Are able to provide a minimum 1:1 cash co-contribution
Are proposing a project located in NSW
Are seeking between $500,000 and $5 million
Can complete the project within three years
Have a technology with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 6 and 9
Have a Commercial Readiness Index (CRI) below 4
Meet all legal, financial and insurance requirements outlined in the program guidelines

What can the grant be used for?

Eligible projects may include activities that advance clean technologies towards commercialisation, including:

Technology development
Prototype development
Product verification and validation
Demonstration and pilot projects
Front End Engineering Design (FEED)
Technical feasibility studies
Construction of dedicated testing infrastructure

What won’t be funded?

Funding is generally not available for:

Business-as-usual operations
Marketing and sales activities
Land purchases
Existing salaries unrelated to the project
Projects that have already commenced
Commercial manufacturing of already proven technologies
Early-stage research below TRL 6
Projects requiring ongoing NSW Government funding
